The
second Pat Wildman story |

Aug 2013
The
second book in July from Meteor House
–see the previous entry– is the signed limited
edition novella The
Scarlet Jaguar, written by Win Scott Eckert. It is "Volume
II of the Memoirs of Pat Wildman".
Cover:
Mark Sparacio
Volume 1 in this series, The Evil in Pemberley House,
was published by Subterranean Press in 2009. That novel was started by
Philip José Farmer and completed by Win Scott Eckert. The
second
volume is solely written by Eckert.
Like with Exiles of Kho
written by Christopher Paul Carey, see last's year entry on this, I
have no place in the bibliography to put The Scarlet Jaguar
in.
I really need to create a new page for this...

Doc

Aug 2013
Meteor
House released in July at FarmerCon VIII two new books. One
of them is
a special hardcover, 'The Definitive Edition', of Doc
Savage: His Apocalyptic Life.
This revised edition has been edited by Win Scott Eckert, who also
wrote the foreword and a biography of PJF. This special edition is
filled with new Bonus Material, and also there are six Tributes,
written by John Allen Small, Keith Howell, Rick Lai, Art Sippo,
Christopher Paul Carey, and Will Murray.
Cover:
Joe DeVito
This is a wonderful book for all the Doc Savage fans, or a "Book of
Magic" as Win Scott Eckert calls it in his foreword.
Together with Farmer's Tarzan Alive this fictional
biography was the start of the saga of the Wold
Newton Family.

Farmer
collector Fred Fischer is a man that keeps me working, checking and
correcting, as if I have nothing else to do... It sometimes starts with
a question if I know of a certain printing from a foreign
country,
and before I know it takes me days to check everything and correct the
data.
But to be honest, I love his contributions!
First I have added three additional publications of the story "Riders of the Purple Wage".
Fred had found a second printing of the Spanish anthology Visiones
Peligrosas I from publisher Orbis (1985). I myself have a
copy of the third printing (1986).
This same anthology from Orbis had been published in Argentina, by
Hyspamérica (1985). It is nearly the same book as the
Spanish one, only the ISBN and publisher's name changed.
Next I added two publications of the novel The
Lovers. The Spanish publication of Los amantes from
Orbis (1985) also had an Argentinian
edition from Hyspamérica (1986).
And because of one of the questions from Fred I had to check
for a hardcover edition
of Los Amantes
by Spanish publisher Acervo (1975). Both the trade paperback editions
from Acervo were already known to me.
Now I will have to check the other Acervo and the
Orbis/Hyspamérica publications again. Thanks Fred!
