Interview
with Christopher Paul Carey |
|
|
18 Jun
2015
The
biggest news this year, so far, came with the announcement of a new
Opar / Khokarsa novella, Hadon,
King of Opar. See the earlier entries on this site.
The novella is written by Christopher Paul Carey and will be published
by Meteor House in August this year.
Book presentation and signing will be done at FarmerCon X.
Many
times in the past I read comments
from fans of Edgar Rice Burroughs's Tarzan stories.
They made the crossover to Farmer's Opar stories, because of the
relation with ERB's Tarzan.
Some were curious if Farmer's novels were
as good as the 'original' stories. Not all of the ERB fans thought them
as good as ERB had written them.
But there were many fans that liked Farmer's Opar novels and read them.
Problem was, there were only two Opar books, despite the fact that
Farmer had announced for more. They were never written, alas.
Until Chris Carey got permission from Farmer to finish the third Opar /
Khokarsa novel, The Song of Kwasin. The
Farmer estate later gave him
permission to write more stories.
I have never been a real Tarzan fan. As a kid I read some comic
books with his adventures, saw a few of the old movies (with Johnny
Weissmuller), and maybe read one or two of the books in translation.
But I loved and still love the Opar / Khokarsa stories, whether written
by
Farmer or Carey.
Maybe it is time for me to finally make the crossover to the 'real'
Tarzan
stories... What do you think?
For now we have a very
interesting interview with Christopher Paul Carey, about his
latest addition to the Opar / Khokarsa stories, Hadon, King of Opar.

See both the websites for more detailed information about registering

related to FarmerCon however, a panel with the title: "The Weird Tales of Philip
José Farmer".
Another Phil Farmer related, and very interesting activity is the
presentation and signing of the new Opar / Khokarsa books from Meteor

Review:
Hadon, King of Opar by Christopher Paul Carey |
|
|
12 Jun
2015
Last month
the website PulpCrazy published a review online
of the new novella Hadon,
King of Opar. The novella is written by Christopher Paul
Carey.
Philip Jose
Farmer started the Opar series
in 1974 and he wrote two novels in the series. The second one was
published in 1976. A third novel, The Song of Kwasin, was
published in 2012. It was coauthored by Chris Carey.
Hadon,
King of Opar
will be published in August. So you can still preorder your copy of the
book. If you do your name will appear on the acknowledgments page of
the book.
Maybe the mentioned review, with: «If you’re a fan
of Khokarsa, Hadon,
King of Opar should vault to the top of your reading
list», can help you decide if you will preorder it from Meteor
House!
What also helps is the stunning cover by Bob Eggleton!
