O'Brien and Obrenov
Genre Mainstream / war story
Type Short story
Series -
Farmer's first sold story in print. Not science fiction, but a 'comedy of errors'.
DESCRIPTION:
The Russian forces, under Colonel Obrenov, came from the east and the American forces, under Colonel O'Brien, from the west to the town Mautz. Together the forces defeated the German soldiers and occupied the city. Mautz was 'split' in two exact halfs, both forces occupying their own half. Then the very badly wanted SS colonel-general Schutzmiller was captured, but he was captured by both the Russians and the Americans exactly on the chalk-line dividing the city. Both armies want this man as their prisoner. How to solve this problem? Cut the man in half?
