Towards the Beloved City
Genre Science fiction
Type Novelette
Series -
Also published as "Toward the Beloved City".
Philip José Farmer in his introduction to the story: «Elwood said that Revell liked this unsentimental story very much, and he himself said that he had not really understood Revelations until he read "Toward the Beloved City". I've been a reader of the Bible most of my life, and when I was a child had vivid and terrifying nightmares about the Last Judgments. Note the plural.»
DESCRIPTION:
A religious story about a group of Christians, threatened by heathens, trying to survive in bare country, in the end of the world as we know it, and on their way to the beloved city. Can these people keep to their beliefs if there are extraterrestrials involved.
According to Roger Elwood in his introduction, this story «...is heavily based upon Scripture, indeed, from beginning to end. The story is wonderfully inspiring, and takes place during the latter days.»
