An excerpt from the announced western novel with the same title. Philip José Farmer had begun the novel somewhere in the 1970s, but never finished it. The novel was to be completed by Tracy Knight, author of The Astonished Eye. But Tracy Knight made it clear that he, for good reasons, will not finish the novel.
